8/13/12 Off to jury duty

Since I am off from work and have to be an "insider" at 201 Poplar I decided to post a page continuing the theme of yesterday, the "lakes" in the neighborhood.  The Travel Lady, my Constant Companions and I  live in a metropolitan area exceeding 1.25 million people  (Memphis Metro Area's population is 1,293,102 ).  We live in a congested area, lots of people, cars, trucks, noise, code orange air quality alerts and the overall depression of living with a Democratic president, a bummer much of the time.  Having said all of that the birding in my area is good, some days downright inspiring.

A Belted Kingfisher is a frequent visitor to our "lake."  I usually see this
bird flying away from me as I approach his fishing grounds.

Looking over her area

A Blue Heron, about 4 feet tall

This is a second Blue.  He is somewhat shorter in height but looks healthier

Great White Egret

Egret headed for the shore

This is an adult Green Heron

I think this is where this heron nests?  I see this bird and another here often.

This is a juvenile Green, about half the size of the two adults.  This one
has no fear.  He will allow me to approach and photograph
while Mom and Dad fly off to the tree to watch.

Caught that fish!! Excellent.

OOPS Lost  it

He will not get away again!
